I love my work for many reasons. Not only do I enjoy anatomy, physiology, solving conundrums and working with people, I appreciate massage as a recipient. I believe massage should be an integral part of any good preventive health program. I also know first-hand how valuable massage can be when recouperating from injury.
The bumpy road to becoming a therapist When I was about 14, I suddenly developed severe back pain. Luckily, I had an amazing, progressive physician who sent me to a local hospital as an outpatient for physical therapy and deep tissue massage. The massage helped me so much that I toyed with the idea of becoming a massage therapist after high school. I put the dream on hold to pursue another dream – getting my bachelor's degree in English.
Several years later, I was hit by a car in a crosswalk in downtown Denver. Once again, neuromuscular massage therapy, combined with accupuncture, chiropractic care, exercise and healthy living, set me back on the road to health. My interest in holistic healthcare was renewed.
My philosophy and specialties After being helped so much myself, I felt called to share the gift of health with other people, so I went back to school to learn as much as I could about bodywork. I graduated from the Colorado School of Healing Arts in 2003. I now have more than five years of professional bodywork experience. Because I know what it's like to live with discomfort and pain, I truly empathise with my clients.
Over the years, I've developed a highly-intuitive style of massage therapy. When I say I listen to my clients first and treat them second, I refer to listening on a variety of levels: verbal, physical and energetic. Even if you don't like "all that weird energy stuff," I will work with you in the manner most comfortable for you. You live in your body and know it best. I'm simply here to help you pay attention to your own inner physician and discover the right treatment to help your body heal itself.
I specialize in helping people with tendonitis, thoracic outlet syndrome, headaches, shoulder pain, neck issues, trigger point pain, muscular sciatic nerve entrapment issues, energy blockages and more. I continually study and explore new modalities to help my clients get back on the path to health. I am licensed by the state of Colorado and a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.
If you have pain, headaches or physical discomfort that you think might be muscle or stress related, give me a call to discuss your issue. I would also be happy to speak with your physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, or acupuncturist to formulate a holistic treatment plan. Massage therapy and/or energy work just might help you feel better.
